New Music Tuesday: Joe Bonamassa

Joe BonamassaWe recently featured the axe shredding riffs of Joe Bonamassa not too long ago.  If you read it, you would already know that his edgy-ness is matched only by his badass-ery.  In the land of blues rock, Joe Bonamassa is King (or at least something really close to that.)  His much-anticipated release, Black Rock, is both gritty and classic with hints of some old school Buddy Guy and B.B. King.  He’s very much in the same realm as Kenny Wayne Sheperd, but his latest album really explores a number of different worldly sounds on a handful of tracks mixing blues with other styles of music from around the world.

Of course, it’s not all experimental.  Joe Bonamassa is a full-on blues guy through and through, and no album would be complete without the soul-wrenching solos of songs like “Wandering Earth” or “Steal Your Heart Away”.  But most blues fans would tell you that the real connection comes from the live shows.  Joe Bonamassa is an extremely skilled guitar player that almost appears unreal in his live shows.  He makes kicking ass on the guitar look like a sprint through the park.  If you haven’t already, check out his tour dates and make sure you catch him at an upcoming show.  Your socks will thoroughly be blown off.
